Boo!

Halloween’s not so scary. You’d be surprised how many costumes we clean every year. Before you jump into that skeleton suit or Godzilla’s bridal gown from last year, let us make sure it’s clean and fresh. Need ideas? Here’s a fun Pinterest page with everything from black Jell-O shots to puppy costumes. NBhttp://goo.gl/4eiHW6

Having fits?

If you lost (or gained) a little around the middle during the summer, time to check the fit on your winter wear. Pick up a new pair of Spanx, sweatpants or expandable “comfort” waist trousers. Our alterations department can do wonders up a size or down a couple.

Layer, layer, layer.

It’s not only the look for winter; it’s an easy way to get a fresh look from clothes you already own. Must have #1: skinny jeans in black or dark blue. #2 is a baby-soft cashmere sweater. The complete list, according to Glamour Fashion, is at http://goo.gl/EXA0uV

Collars and cuffs.

Time to take your business wear out of the closet for a bright-light inspection for signs of wear on collars, cuffs and pockets. Take a good look at the elbows, too.  Shirts, sweaters and jackets take a beating at the elbow, even if you’re not a professional arm wrestler. Mark trouble spots with masking tape and bring everything to us — we can patch, mend and reinforce, remove stubborn stains and get your business clothes ready to make an even better impression.

Cashmere deluxe.

While still a splurge, cashmere’s more affordable than ever. But it’s still an investment worth protecting. Wait for deodorant to dry before putting on your sweater or it can build up and create a stain. Don’t wear the same garment more than once a week. Remove wrinkles by ironing on low, inside out. And please, clean your cashmere before storing (folded in tissue) to avoid moth damage.
